Shine
The Atelier

“Every sofa starts the same way — with a tree.”

— Shine Furn, est. 2006, Coimbatore.

The workshop in Irugur

A single workshop. Two decades of practice.

Shine Furn began in 2006 on A. G. Pudur Road. Two decades on, every sofa we ship is built in that same workshop — by hands that have made the same six models hundreds of times each.

We don't outsource. We don't white-label. And we don't copy. Six models, all designed by our own team.

The wood we work with

Seasoned hardwood. One philosophy.

Teak

Our primary frame timber. Slow-growth, dense, dimensionally stable. Resistant to South-Indian humidity and pests without chemical treatment.

Other hardwoods

On request for projects with specific budget or aesthetic constraints. Always seasoned, always sourced from documented suppliers.

Joinery

Mortise and tenon. Glued. Pinned. No staples.

The joints are what separate a sofa that lasts a decade from one that lasts a season. Every Shine frame is mortise-and-tenon at the load-bearing junctions, glued with PVA and pinned with hardwood dowels. No staples in the structure. No corner brackets pretending to be joints.

You will not see this work once the sofa is upholstered. That is the point.

Finishing

Hand-finished. Hand-upholstered.

Upholstery is cut, stitched, and tacked one piece at a time. Foam is shaped to fit each frame, not stamped from a master mold.

The Irugur workshop is open to visitors by appointment. The best way to choose a sofa is to sit on one — and to meet the people who built it.
